Car Park Problems – Your Personal Issues

Posted by itsparker on October 31, 2009

That nice car you slide into at the beginning of a trip somewhere, becomes a nuisance when you seek a place to park or store it temporarily. This is especially true on a busy holiday shopping or travel (think airports) day; during extra hot, rainy or wintry weather; or when arriving at an unfamiliar location. You experience parking frustrations such as:

  1. Having to depart early because of parking uncertainty
  2. Spend extra time prowling through streets in search of an empty curb space
  3. Dig for proper coins to pay for parking
  4. Look for a convenient and reasonably priced parking lot or garage
  5. Drive up and down rows of cars searching for an empty space – in a lot or in a cavernous parking garage
  6. Maybe have to resort to turning your car over to an attendant to park
  7. Suffer through a long weather exposed walk after you park, or
  8. Suffer through long walks and elevator waits in a parking garage
  9. Wait in a long or slow moving parking payment line
  10. Worry throughout about:
  • Crime to your person
  • Car theft or car contents theft
  • Scrapes and dings to your car
  • Parking lot or garage accidents
  • Getting a parking ticket
  • Squeezing into and out of a small space
  • Backing out from between large SUV’s

A brief note. I was recently on a vacation trip to southern Spain. When walking past lines of parked cars I was amazed to notice how many cars from all over Europe had scrapes and dings along the sides and quarter panels. I understood completely after being forced to maneuver my rental car into tight quarters between concerete columns in underground car parks. I was also surprised at the detail scrutiny my car underwent when I turned it in, the car rental company looking for those same small scrapes and dings.

What you’d like to happen – at the end of your journey to downtown, the airport, a mall shopping center, a big box retailer, a large medical center, an office building – is for your car to just disappear, and later reappear at your request, when your business is over – like a valet Genie driving it away, no tip required!
